"AnimeFest" 2008 (May. 3rd)
posted by Dragonmun on 29 Apr 2008
"Animefest 08" is the second of a series of "mini-conventions" put
forward by the Broward County Library System (Florida) that I have had
the privilege of being a part of. This time it was held at
the Southwest Regional branch in Pembroke Pines...

NartutoTrek (Mar. 28 - 30)

If there was ever a convention that had more skepticism about it than Naruto-Trek, I would be hard-pressed to believe it.
When I first heard about Naruto-Trek I honestly thought that it was a joke. That someone out there was comparing the Otaku of today to the Trekkies of previous generations. Then... the more I thought about it, the more I realized that I probably wasn't the only anime fan with a secret of also being a Star-Trek nerd.

JaniCon 2007 (Nov. 2 - 4)

JaniCon - Bittersweet Memories?
JaniCon
is without a doubt he weirdest convention that I've ever had the
privilege of writing a review/story for. It was an emotional roller
coaster that ended up leaving me feeling as I would imagine floating
under the sun in a sea of
LCL would feel. Good, but with a slight sense of dread stemming from some place unexplainable.

Totally Emotional - Anime Festival orlando 2007
posted by Dragonmun on 07 Aug 2007
If anyone's been following my ventures on
Deviant Art or my
gallery,
they would know that I've been excited about this con for a while
because of their RPG theme thing. I've been working with Stephanie on
themed events at conventions over the last year and I knew that the
staff of
AFO is excentric to make this absolutely fantabulous (yes I know that's not a word).

Florida SuperCon
I don't know weather or not this was
because I had never been to Florida SuperCon before, or if it was
because I was still coming down off of PersaCon, but I was kind of
afraid of this multi-genre convention. I'm glad that my anxiety was
unjustified.

PersaCon (Jun. 15 - 17)
posted by Dragonmun on 05 Apr 2007
This was my second PersaCon and once again I was there to help my friends
Stephanie Chateau (who now has a place amongst our staff) with her themed scavenger hunt event.
The first and biggest thing about this convention is the staff. They
treated not just the guests, but all the attendees so well that it felt
more like a family reunion full of those cool aunts and uncles that you
like to visit more than it felt like a convention. For a weekend, they
were like family... It was AWESOME!

Anime Supercon 2007: A Artist's Perspective.
By Dragonmun"We're rapping to poop!"If you guys don't understand that phrase by now, then you are truly missing out. I would highly suggest visiting the MySpace of
Emergency Pizza Party, one of the many bands performing at this convention.
The sudden endorsement of one of Orlando's local band isn't as random as it may seem, for there was so much talent at this convention that it was almost shocking. The only reason that I say almost is because it was advertised all over the
Anime SuperCon Website.

East Meets South 2006

East Meets South: An Artist’s Perspective. This
was another one of those conventions that falls under the weird
category. It was horrible for sales, but I suspect it has something to
do with it’s close proximity to
Black Friday’s date.
The reason I say this is because that was the excuse I heard people
give all weekend when they were asked by the vendors if they were
interested in something.
The highlight of the convention was definitely ...

Anime South : An artist’s perspective
I suppose that first
of all I should explain this “artist’s perspective” thing. All artists
are businessmen, whether they want to be or not, and thus they all take
on some form of sales job to promote them selves and sell their stuff.
I just happen to do this at a comic table rather than an art festival
booth, and I sell printed comics rather than prints made off of canvas
paintings.

Anime Festival Orlando 2006: A short report.
I didn't
do anything but sit at my artist alley table this convention, which was
a pleasant change from every other con that I hit this year. Sales were
good. I've got only one of each issue of Sivoa left over from the new
shipment and I actually got caught up on the commissions I took there.

Houkocon 2006
As much as I would like to do a normal
report for this convention, I can't. It was just to... what is the word
that I am looking for... surreal.
Without a doubt this has been
one of the most disorganized events that I've been to, but it was a
total blast. The staff behind the whole thing was really good at
improvising where they had too, and even though some things were
canceled and other delayed, it was a good job for as first year
convention.

Persacon
An Entertainer's Perspective?
Because
of the fact that PersaCon is in Alabama, we left for PersaCon on
Thursday with a car full of people. The trip was looooooonnnngggg, but
not without benefits. I had never seen mountains like that before since
I was born and raised in central Florida. It's about as flat as flat
can get here.

JACON 2006

JACON Review: An artist's perspective.
Overall I'm
very pleased with how JACON's artist alley section was handled this
year. We have moved from the inside of the dealer's room to the hallway
just outside of main events.
When I first found out about this
move I was really worried that we were just shoved into a spot out of
the way and wouldn't have any real business. Thankfully that wasn't the
case...

MegaCon 2006

So, I've given up on my gallery for the time being because it's giving me a headache with it's configuration stuff and I've decided to take a little break and give you guys my convention review for MegaCon... cause like. I dunno. You guys might be interested in that. ;p
I first of all have to state that this years convention was a little weird for me because I was not selling at a table. Instead I was running around like everyone else...
