Another song-inspired piece. This time it’s “Stereo Love” by Edward Maya & Vika Jigulina and mostly for the feel of the song over the lyrics (which I have no idea as to what they are because I can’t understand the singer. ^_^;). It also was initially (mentally) placed in Thorton Park – a  small neighborhood here, just outside of Downtown Orlando – but that made no sense for the character. Instead I put her in Paris (where I’ve never been outside of google maps).

Technically, this piece was a first in that I laid down a black ink wash between the pencil and watercolor steps. As theorized, this helped carry the texture and lighting once I hit the watercolor stage. I also made a huge attempt to keep black paint from touching the picture – shading only with other colors and I love how it turned out!

The original painting is still on display at the Dandelion Communitea Cafe until the end of the month. If you’re in the area, feel free to get some good food and check it out! 🙂
