#NovelNovember

Every year writers from all around the world participate in a big writing challenge where they attempt to write a 50,000 word novel in the month of November. This was previously officiated by NaNoWriMo.org, whose AI stance decided that content no longer mattered as long as the word count was there. Since the writing challenge is supposed to be a self-improvement kind of thing, having a computer write for you negates the point o the challenge altogether.

Now, one does not have to sign up for the NaNoWriMo website in order to crank out a novel in November. Anyone can write anything at any time, but the sense of community that NaNo used to provide was nice. In order to try and keep that feeling, I propose that writers post their progress/questions/comments to social media with the hashtag #NovelNovember.

Resources

  1. The Dragonmun Studios Discord has a writing channel where I like to share progress, information, writing memes, and offer help where I can. If I'm doing sprints, it's usually with that window open as well.

  2. Don't want to write 50k words? Make your own simple pace calendar with this Google sheet.
